The autobiography Look at Him, Souček!, which will be published by Beletrina in the beginning of June, is not only a chronology of almost a century of occupied Ljubljana, the labour brigades, self-governance and the development of theatre, radio and television, but also a topography of the space, especially of Ljubljana between the SNG Drama and Kodeljevo. Jurij Souček (1929–2024) created around 150 theatre and almost 600 radio roles. He is probably most popular with the general public for his dubbing of cartoons such as Piggeldy und Frederick, Maya the Bee and Smuk the Dwarf. In 1961, he received the Sterijino Pozorje Festival Prize for his role as Creon in Smole's Antigone, followed by the Borštnik Ring Award in 1994, the Viktor Award in 2005, the Ježek Award in 2018 and the Golden Voice Award from the Slovenian Association of Dramatic Artists in 2019 – all for his life’s work.
